Again I wanted to do something flat, but I went with something with an even simpler style because this is going to be a busy weekend for me, so time will be shorter than last weekend. There will be no more images today, as I have to head out soon. Time will be rather short tomorrow as well, but I’ll try and have something.
I wanted to try the characters fully nude for my tinkering efforts, since that’s when the flat styles start to get tricky due to lack of variety in the bodies.
Just felt like doing another more Kim Possible piece this weekend to mess with the style. I went a bit more precise with the lining this time as there was a bit less experimentation to go through so I was mostly able to get right to it.
I did this simply because I felt like tinkering with a flat style. As I mentioned after finishing Pet with Benefits, I’m considering sticking to flatter or maybe monochrome stuff for a bit over weekends, and for that purpose I may tinker around with some stylistic options for a minute.
I did this for a variety of reasons, one being I’m considering something for Penny and wanted to try out the characters as it’s been a while. Also, this is saved as JPEG, as I wanted to see how a more reasonable resolution and a compressed file format worked in regards to the background textures. I had actually stopped using those because they made my PNG files ridiculous in size, hitting upwards of 10MB for a single file, but this exported at a reasonable 500KB, which is quite reasonable.
NOTE: This image suffered from terrible site compression when I first uploaded it, but I had fixed that. If you viewed it when it was first posted, and it looks poorly compressed still, you may need to reset your cache, or click on the image for the full view, to see the uncompressed version. I didn’t change the filename when the file was replaced, so your cache may have the old version stored.
I just randomly felt like doing something with these two, but I wasn’t quite in the mood to color. That mood was taken up by me finally getting to doing something I’ve been wanting to do, which is fixing up the earlier pages of Sultry Summer. I started before, but I was just editing things slightly, which wasn’t giving me results I wanted, but when I edited pages fully it took a lot of time because I sketched them back out over the old page, then lined over that sketch, and it was a timely process that I lost motivation for due to time restraints. However, now that I’m comfortable enough that I’m in the process of drawing without the clean sketching I’ll be trying to relate that into redoing the old pages in a hopefully more timely manner (although the process overall will still take a long time).
On that note, I only had to edit a few things in page 1, but I’ve redrawn the figures fully in page 2.
I had a busy weekend so I didn’t have a lot of time to draw much. I feel the perspective looked fine for Jack when sketching it out but ended up weird in the end. Oh well, I’m out of time I’m able to put into this for now.
Also, I adjusted the line weight for page 107 of Sultry Summer after someone commented about it. Just thought I’d note that here.
Also also, you may notice I’ve added my URL to my watermark in the bottom left as opposed to just using my alias. I still get a lot of questions and confusion about where I post certain things and feel that should help with that issue.
I wanted to do something simple that I knew I would be able to start and finish rather quickly. I’m also messing around with a different pen tool and wanted to mess around with the coloring approach I tried out ages ago when I first made the models of these two.
I said earlier in the week when I did the SS sketch that I wanted to do the next page this weekend, but there’s less to get through in the current part than I realized, and I noticed how close we are to the holidays, so I decided I should get a head start on some things in case the holidays end up eating too much time. I knew there was no way I was finishing something like a full SS page in the time I had left once Sunday hit so I decided to do something quicker. I took the chance to mess around with lines and tones again with these characters, although I used a pretty thick pen tool to really help speed things up.
I wasn’t in the mood to color but I just wanted to mess around with the character models. After I’ve got some other things to a certain point I’ve been considering messing around more with lined/toned stuff over weekends and wanted to see how these would look in case I want to try stuff with them. I’m not making any guarantees or anything, but I do like to keep my options open.
